A 90 minutos al norte de Sidney y a 2 kilometros de playas agradables, en un entorno subtropical, se ubica Auroville.
Después de convivir durante cinco días con la familia en su pequeña casa, hablamos sobre las necesidades individuales y colectivas para la realización del proyecto residencial que nos estaban solicitando.
Sentir y conocer el sitio era fundamental: las vistas, la topografía, la orientación, el entorno…… vivir el espacio, nos llevó a confirmar que la ubicación de la nueva casa debía ser la misma de la antigua, principalmente, porque desde ahí, las vistas ya eran hermosas, porque la orientación al norte (la mejor en el hemisferio sur) dirigía la mirada hacia un Parque Nacional, santuario de enorme variedad de aves, entre éstas, cacatúas, guacamayas, ibis, pericos, que ofrece un panorama relajante y admirable.
Por otra parte, fueron decisivos en el diseño dos enormes y hermosos árboles -sagrados para sus propietarios- así como una gran palmera, elementos naturales que determinaron los ejes del proyecto.
Desde el principio me imaginé que el programa pedía que la casa fuera una gran y colorida escultura con pedacería de azulejo, ventilación cruzada, nichos para sus esculturas y que tuviera grandes zonas al aire libre

Auroville is located in a subtropical environment, an hour and a half from Sydney and a mile or so from some pleasant beaches.
After living with the family for five days in their little house, we talked about the residential project they were requesting in terms of both individual and collective needs.
Feeling and getting to know the site was fundamental: the views, the topography, the orientation, the surroundings… Actually experiencing the space confirmed that the location of the new house should be the same as that of the former one, mainly because the finest views were from there and because the northern exposure (the best in the southern hemisphere) directed the gaze toward a national park, a sanctuary for an enormous variety of birds, including cockatoos, macaws, ibises, and parrots, which offer a relaxing and appealing panorama.
Also decisive to the project was the existence of two very large and beautiful trees –sacred to the owner–, as well as a tall palm tree, natural elements that determined the axes of the design.
From the beginning, we thought the program demanded a house in the form of a large, colorful sculpture, decorated with glazed ceramic tiles and endowed with cross-ventilation, niches for sculptures, and large open-air spaces.
