Nido de Quetzalcoatl

El Proyecto arquitectónico se encontró con un terreno irregular de 5,000m2, con topografía muy accidentada, debido a que una cañada con encinos atraviesa el lugar longitudinalmente.
Las cuevas fueron colapsadas por el fraccionador por la inseguridad de las mismas, lo que generó depresiones a cada lado de la cañada y en una de ellas una especie de cráter. De todas las cuevas se conservó sólo una – la más confiable – que mide aproximadamente 50 metros de largo por 6 de ancho.
En la maqueta; con las curvas de nivel, se colocó un flotador de niños (1.20m x 0.12m aprox.); simulando la envolvente de los departamentos, se fue moviendo de acuerdo a las vistas, orientación y buscando apoyarlo en el terreno.
Un día se pensó colocar la cabeza de una serpiente en la boca de la cueva, se ubicó en la maqueta: se observó que parecía una serpiente virtual que entraba y salía del terreno,… y decidimos ponerle la cola a Quetzalcóatl…….
En la parte alta del crótalo, en el cascabel se ubicó el depósito de agua, abajo el espacio del conserje y más abajo un cuarto de maquinas y diez bodegas pequeñas, una para cada departamento.

The architectural design is executed on a lot measuring 5,000 square meters, with a very irregular topography owing to the oak-filled ravine that crosses it lengthwise.
Some preexisting caves were collapsed for safety reasons, causing depressions on either side of the ravine and leaving a sort of crater. Only the most stable cave, measuring fifty meters long by six meters wide, was preserved.
At the model stage, owing to the undulations of the terrain, a 120-x-12-centimeter child’s floatation device was used to simulate the wrapping of the apartments. It moved along in accordance with the orientation and the vistas, seeking a foothold on the irregular topography.
One day it occurred to us to put a serpent’s head at the mouth of the cave. The idea was reproduced first on the model and we realized that it looked like a serpent was entering and leaving the lot…. So we decided to give Quetzalcóatl a tail.
On the upper part of the snake, in the rattler, is the water tank, while below there is a space for the concierge, and even further below the machine room and ten small storage rooms, one for each apartment.
