Arena Roja

Al sur de Jordania, a una hora de Petra se encuentra Wadi Rum que quiere decir “arena roja”.

Los límites de la propiedad colindan con una gran reserva ecológica; el tema un Resort al que fuimos invitados junto con otros 4 despachos para su desarrollo.

Similar a la armonía en la música, el proyecto busca adaptarse, mimetizarse con su entorno. Escuchar las voces del lugar.

El factor climático influyo en los conceptos. Se busco el refugio dentro de la roca, de la arena, de la tierra en el oasis propuesto o bajo la losa cubierta de arena, apoyada sobre las grandes rocas caídas.

Estos materiales ofrecen una buena respuesta al clima extremo de la región; son aislantes naturales que mantienen en el interior una temperatura estable durante todo el año.

La intención es que la arquitectura se mimetice con el entorno; utilizando la arena roja del lugar como agregado al ferrocemento y cubriéndolo con piedras del lugar.​

In southern Jordan, an hour from Petra, is Wadi Rum, whose name means “red sand.”

The property borders on a large ecological reserve. Four other architectural firms were invited to participate in the development of the resort project.

Like harmony in music, the design seeks to imitate and to adapt itself to its surroundings. To listen to the other voices of the place.

Climatic factors influenced the architectural concepts. A refuge has been created within the rocks, the sand, the earth, in an oasis designed beneath a roof slab covered with sand, supported by large fallen rocks.

These materials are well suited to the climatic extremes of the region: they are natural insulators that maintain the interior temperature stable all year round.

In some of the designs the aim is to generate a contrast between the volumes and the landscape, using the red sand of the site as an aggregate in the ferro-cement, which is then covered with the local stones.
